Dave Lister does qualify as a Sun Valley local, and likes to brag that he was born in the little skiers clinic on the third floor of the Sun Valley Lodge where the spa is now.
He started with Ketchum Fire as a volunteer in June of 1975 along with Dave Bell. Later that year, they were among the first full time firefighters hired along with Robbie Engelhart and Ron Parsons. David served with Ketchum in a combination of full time and volunteer roles for 17 years, including as a training officer, Advanced EMT, and EMT instructor.
David also volunteered for Sun Valley Fire starting in 1977. The most dramatic event was fighting the large fire that burned the south half of the Sun Valley Lodge roof and attic. He left the fire service for a construction and design career beginning in 1992.
Dave also worked on the Sun Valley Ski Patrol for 17 years and has volunteered with Blaine County Search and Rescue for more than 30 years.
Dave moved back to the city of Sun Valley in 2014 rejoined SVFD as a paid on call firefighter / Engineer.
